Data Management with Vault Webinar

Thu, Sep 28, 2017 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM GMT

Autodesk ® Vault® data management software helps design and engineering teams control project-related design data, manage change processes, minimize costly mistakes, and more efficiently release and revise designs.

In this webinar, we will focus Vault features which relate to content and drawing management. Vault provides tools to help you easily manage and distribute drawings and content  such as Revit families, AutoCAD blocks and Civil 3D objects.  This helps ensure that project teams have everything they need to comply with organization standards without taking away from their design time. In this presentation, you will see how to:
  • Manage, track, and organize data automatically
  • Save time with centrally located project data
  • Standardize content for the entire project team
  • And more!

Flux Smart Space Analyser – Create Shortest Distance Heat Maps

From the Flux website:

Smart Space Analyser

The Buro Happold Smart Space Analyser App allows you to instantly generate beautiful shortest distance heat maps. Select an area of interest such as a hospital campus or city center location and start to add targets. Targets represent destination nodes such as bus stops or fire assembly points. Click once to analyse and the results generate directly in front of your eyes! These heat maps make it easy to identify the impacts of building obstructions and spot underserved or isolated areas of your selected location. Drag the nodes to rerun the analysis at any time.

Finally, click again to send the analysis heat map to Flux and open it in Rhino3D for further manipulation and use!

Poll: For What Other Products Should Revit Add-ons Cover Add-in Applications?

Here on Revit Add-ons, a while ago, we polled our readership about whether or not we should also cover Navisworks add-ins. By about a 2:1 margin, the results indicated we should, and that's worked out pretty well for us.

On the Autodesk App Store, there are a number of other products that might be of frequent use to our readers, namely BIM 360Autodesk Advance SteelVault, and 3ds Max. Add-in applications for these products might also be of interest.

We've opened a series of polls to judge interest in add-ins for these other products. We genuinely care about what our readers think so please take a few moments to complete them below. Thank you!

Polls close on Monday, October 2.

Should Revit Add-ons cover add-in applications for BIM 360?

Tips for Searching Revit Add-ons

Searching Revit Add-ons is one of the best ways to find the content you're looking for. However, as we've added regular features like our weekly roundups, what's hot articles, etc., plus time-sensitive articles like webinars, search results may be, for want of a better word, cluttered.

One may exclude search terms by pre-pending them with the minus ("-") symbol.

For example, the following types of articles may be excluded from search results as shown:
  • What's Hot

  • Autodesk App Store Weekly Roundups

  • Week in Review articles

The Week that was in Revit Add-ons for September 18-24, 2017

The week of September 18, 2017 was a very busy one here on Revit Add-ons with 33 posts published.

New

From the Autodesk App Store, we posted about the self-explanatory Batch Change Circuit Breaker Size, and about the simply-named Hangers for placing duct hangers automatically along suspended MEP linear elements.

From around the Internet, we posted about the new CadMouse Wireless input device.

Also, we published a bunch of posts about AGACAD's products. We'd sporadically posted about many of them over the years, but, when we looked closer, we realized that our posts were mostly about updates, and so we decided to put up their original descriptive product posts. Last week we covered those in the following list. This week we hope to finish the job (those AGACAD folks are a busy lot!), as well as publishing a proper product roundup.

Roundup – For Sep 18-24, 2017, New and Updated Revit and Navisworks Add-ins on the Autodesk App Store

The week of September 18, 2017 was a fairly slow one with regards to Revit and Navisworks add-ins on the Autodesk App Store. Two new(-ish) add-ins were published and three were updated.

For the new add-ins, Hangers is for placing hangers along MEP linear elements automatically, and the free rvt2skp is for exporting Revit models to Sketchup models. (Though new to the App Store, we posted about rvt2skp in November of last year.)

For updated add-ins, the popular Scope Box Synchronizer received a relatively significant refresh.

Scope Box Synchronizer V1.6

From the Autodesk App Store:

About This Version

Version 1.6, 9/18/2017
  • Fix for a rotated Revit link
  • Names are now visible on the links dropdown to distinguish between multiple copies of links
  • Filter the list of Scope Boxes according to which ones you've actually used in your project
  • Application is digitally signed.

Description

The application is able to import all or selected Scope Boxes from a linked Autodesk® Revit® project into your project, as well as checking if yours and the linked Scope Boxes are the same - if they are different you're able to Synchronize your Scope Boxes to match those in the linked project. Similar to the built-in Copy/Monitor functionality, but on Scope Boxes.

After importing or synchronizing you also have the possibility to reorder the Scope Boxes either automatically or with drag and drop.

Before synchronization, some Scope Boxes are not the same as in the linked Revit Project...
